How to Edit the Mobile Version of Your Wix Website

Fix overlapping text, huge gaps and cut-off images on the phone version of your site.

Most people visiting your website are on a phone. In the standard Wix Editor the mobile version is a separate view of the same content, which means you can tidy it up without touching your desktop layout.

Step 1: Switch to the mobile view

Open your site in the editor. At the top of the screen there are two small icons — a monitor and a phone. Click the phone.

Step 2: Understand what you can and cannot change

On mobile you can move, resize, hide and restyle elements. You cannot add brand-new content that does not exist on desktop, and deleting something here deletes it everywhere.

Careful: Pressing Delete on mobile removes the element from the desktop version too. To remove something from phones only, use Hide on Mobile.

Step 3: Hide what does not belong on a phone

Click any element you do not want on mobile and choose Hide on Mobile. Decorative shapes, wide background images and long sidebars are usually the first to go.

Step 4: Fix the text sizes

Desktop heading sizes are almost always too big on a phone. Select each heading and reduce it until it fits on two lines or fewer. Body text should be comfortable to read without zooming.

Step 5: Close the gaps

Use the mobile layout optimiser, or drag sections upward, to remove the empty vertical space Wix leaves behind when elements are stacked.

Step 6: Check the mobile menu

Open the hamburger menu in preview and confirm every page you expect is listed and every link works.

Step 7: Preview on a real phone

Publish, then open the site on your own phone. The editor preview is close, but a real device is the only honest test.

Tip: Work top to bottom, one section at a time, and publish as you go. Trying to fix the whole site at once is how people give up halfway.

Common questions

Does editing the mobile version change my desktop site?
Moving, resizing and hiding elements on mobile only affects mobile. Deleting an element removes it from both.
Why does Wix Studio not have a separate mobile editor?
Wix Studio uses responsive breakpoints instead of a separate mobile view, so you adjust each breakpoint rather than a standalone mobile layout.
