Last checked August 2026. Wix changes its interface often — if something looks different, the underlying steps usually still apply.
A domain that will not load almost always comes down to one of five things. Check them in this order.
Step 1: Is the site published?
An unpublished site has nothing to show. Open the editor and click Publish.
Step 2: Is there an active premium plan?
Custom domains require a paid plan. Check the billing section of your Wix account.
Step 3: Are the DNS records correct?
Compare the A record and www CNAME at your domain provider with the values Wix shows in Settings, then Domains.
Step 4: Has enough time passed?
DNS changes can take up to 48 hours. Test in a private window to rule out browser caching.
Step 5: Has the domain expired?
Log into your registrar and check the expiry date. An expired domain stops working instantly and silently.
