Last checked August 2026. Wix changes its interface often — if something looks different, the underlying steps usually still apply.

There are two different things people mean by this: changing which page is the homepage, and changing what is on the homepage. Here is both.

Set a different page as your homepage

Step 1: Open Pages and Menu

Click Pages and Menu in the left toolbar of the editor.

Step 2: Find the page you want to promote

Hover over it and click the three dots beside its name.

Step 3: Choose Set as Homepage

Wix will move the home icon to that page. Its address becomes your root domain.

Change what is on your homepage

Step 4: Edit the top section first

The first screen a visitor sees should say what you do, who you do it for and how to contact you. Everything else is secondary.

Step 5: Replace placeholder text and images

Template copy left in place is the fastest way to look unfinished.

Step 6: Publish

Nothing changes for visitors until you publish.

Careful: Changing your homepage changes which page sits at your root address. If the old homepage was ranking on Google, keep it published and add a link to it so the page is not orphaned.

Common questions

Can I have two homepages in Wix?
No. One page is marked as the homepage and it loads at your root domain.

How to Add a New Page in Wix
