Last checked August 2026. Wix changes its interface often — if something looks different, the underlying steps usually still apply.

Wix has two editing environments. Following the wrong instructions is one of the most common reasons a tutorial does not match what you see on screen.

The standard Wix Editor

  • Drag elements anywhere on a fixed canvas.
  • A separate mobile view you edit by hand.
  • Aimed at business owners editing their own site.

Wix Studio

  • Responsive breakpoints instead of a separate mobile view.
  • CSS-style layout tools: grids, stacks and docking.
  • Aimed at agencies and designers.

Step 1: Work out which one you have

If the top bar has a monitor and phone toggle, you are in the standard editor. If it shows several screen-width breakpoints, you are in Studio.

Tip: Every tutorial on Wix Beginner is labelled with the editor it applies to, so check that badge before you start following steps.

Common questions

Can I convert a Wix site to Wix Studio?
There is no one-click conversion for most sites. Moving to Studio generally means rebuilding.
