Last checked August 2026. Wix changes its interface often — if something looks different, the underlying steps usually still apply.

If you have inherited a Wix site or you have not touched it in a while, this is the orientation you need.

Step 1: Log in and pick the right site

Go to your Wix account. If you have several sites, check the domain shown under each one before you open it.

Step 2: Choose Edit Site

The dashboard manages the business side. Edit Site opens the visual editor where the content lives.

Step 3: Click the thing you want to change

Text, images and buttons are edited by clicking them directly. A toolbar appears with the relevant options.

Step 4: Use undo freely

Ctrl+Z or Cmd+Z. Nothing you do in the editor affects the live site until you publish.

Step 5: Preview before you publish

Preview shows the site as a visitor sees it, including links and forms.

Step 6: Publish

Changes only go live when you click Publish.

Note: Wix keeps a version history. If something goes badly wrong you can restore an earlier version from the site menu.

Common questions

Do my changes go live immediately?
No. Editor changes are saved as a draft and only appear to visitors after you publish.

How to Add a Button in Wix

Add a button, link it somewhere useful and make it look clickable.
